Three bottles of real Champagne and the blade to open them with. Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut, Lallier Brut R.021, and André Clouet Grande Réserve — alongside a Maserin sabre à champagne, handmade in Maniago, Italy, a town that has been forging blades since the fifteenth century. The saber runs 18.5 inches overall on a 13.5-inch full-tang stainless blade, with a bubinga wood handle, a stainless guard, a maroon tassel, and "Sabre à Champagne" engraved down the flat. It arrives in its own wooden presentation box.
The blade is deliberately unsharpened, because sabrage was never about cutting. You run the flat up the seam of the bottle into the lip, and the pressure inside does the rest — cork and collar leave together in one piece. It has been a party trick for two hundred years and it has never once stopped working. This is the lot that hands someone a story to tell.
